Sold Out, Cover Art

About the Artist

Ok, now…. I promise I’m not straying. I’m not abandoning the very principles that built my little platform that could. Fifteen Minutes of Fame feature independent artists. We always have, we always will.

Under normal circumstances, Gracie Abrams would not qualify. She’s signed to Interscope. Aaron Dessner too, for that matter, as he’s signed to A24. Technically, Bon Iver is signed to an independent label; jagjaguwar, but he nor Dessner or Abrams need the publicity of this platform.

Combined, these artists have won/been nominated for more than a dozen Grammy’s, they’ve charted on a number of Billboard charts numerous times, have toured the world, shared the stage with artists like Taylor Swift, and have sold millions of records. They don’t need me.

But they do.

They need me, they need you, they need 350 million Americans to listen. And listen well.

They have released a song. Exclusively for purchase on bandcamp. It is 100% independent. It’s not streaming anywhere else. All of the proceeds of this song are being donated to every town.org, which is a charitable organization committed to educating communities and bringing an end to gun violence in America.

This is a somber message around the holidays, sure. I understand. But, just this month, there have been 13 qualified “mass shootings” in America. To date, there have been more than 40,000 gun deaths in America and 2025 and counting. That’s heartbreaking.

We can’t even ask “haven’t we had enough?” anymore. It’s more like, “Haven’t we had enough of asking ‘haven’t we had enough?’” It’s really ridiculous. And I am so fucking tired of “thoughts and prayers.” The people who say it, the people who mock people saying it. The fucking social media debates that are so god damned tiring and have gone nowhere.

I think I am actually ready to direct my energy towards true change. I believe Everytown is that chance to really make a difference.

About the Song

Sold Out is….

You know what, the song is performed by Gracie Abrams, Aaron Dessner, and Bon Iver. It’s not just good. It’s not just great. It’s fucking mint! It released today. It’s 4 minutes and 39 seconds of pure bliss. It is $5.00 for an amazing cause that is all being donated to Everytown.

“We made this song last year in the wake of a school shooting. I was reminded of it this week as our hearts were broken yet again…” Gracie Abrams

I can’t do this song any more justice than the justice it does on its own.

Final Thoughts

I may be naive….

But I believe that we want to be decent. We want to be brotherly. We want to be neighborly. We want to be kind. Hate is taught, learned, practiced, and preached.

Let’s defund that rhetoric. Let’s teach kindness. Let’s arm ourselves with our best intentions.

Let’s all Go Press Play.
