The Month of November
In my second month of doing Blind Reactions, I picked right up where I left off in October as there were 8 Blind Reactions posted onto YouTube – one technically was posted on October 31st, but it is credited for November. The most significant standout thing is a video that features the youngest artist to be featured in Fifteen Minutes of Fame with Amariah Lodiong from Sudan, at just 9 years of age!
- Gallows by Wednesday Renee
In this episode, Wednesday Renee performs a song that has a sort of Irish Folk feel to it. In the video, she performs a sort of interpretive dance in a very natural setting as her song Gallows serves as the soundtrack. Gallows released on August 30th, 2024 and has nearly 150 views. https://youtu.be/ACy6Qm6OCSE?si=mk-vBiydWQ3G9v0c
2. Heavy Metal Mama by Impulse 9
I remember this music video being so crazy because there were so many things going on as the storyline sort of parodies a few different things. The production value of this video was very good and the song is fast-paced and very good rock music. The video released on September 14th, 2024 and has over 125 views. https://youtu.be/MN4d47u2S7o?si=_iQtl2oupjzEmlao
3. There’s Something About You by Madame Kapuscinska
The thing I love about this music video by Madame Kapuscinska is that this is a great example of a DIY music video project. Music video’s don’t have to be a major, expensive production. This is a great R&B performance and the music video gives some sound 90’s vibes. I remember thinking about a lot of Toni Braxton’s old videos as this one emulated a lot of her same style. This video came out on April 27th, 2024 and has over 1,000 views! https://youtu.be/ufyjrQZy28E?si=etqW15m5HkcnrsPJ
4. Just Passing Through by Christine Corau
This music video by Christine Corau hit all of its marks. First, the song was great. It had an Enya meets Annie Lennox vibe to it as it sort of floated around folk, ethereal, alternative rock, and soft rock. The production value of the video was very professional done. The quality was excellent. Wardrobe and setting were very cool. It had a sort of spiritual story about it. This video released on March 1st, 2024 and has over 1,000 views. https://youtu.be/AH2EPEzw16o?si=UP_zphNlfca-2hLw
5. Bloodgrind by Sid Stratton
This was an EPIC metal music video. The musical performance was so intense. The drummer’s performance particularly stood out for me. These guys are metal through and through. The video premiered on October 3rd, 2024 and has received more than 15,000 views! https://youtu.be/3ZJ_ecfJ1Uk?si=RotrcB3_3og7gU6z
6. Life by Amariah Lodiong featuring Ken Lee Ignition
This music video has it all. It is lively song, very peppy and upbeat. The production quality of the video is superb. The wardrobe coordination with the settings really uses the power of contrast and color. This is a wonderful music video featuring a very young and very talented artist. Life released on November 16th, 2024 and has 5,000 views! https://youtu.be/zzIZUq4PCno?si=8ySiQyg-SAVceQiQ
7. Modern Fencing by Tango Golf Tango
Modern Fencing by Tango Golf Tango had a very unique synth pop/synth rock sound. The song could hit in a number of places like a club or an arena. The music video was very cool and very experimental as it used its settings to introduce some very cool editing techniques with lighting and reversing the video, etc. Modern Fencing debuted on October 13th, 2023 and has nearly 7,000 views. https://youtu.be/MnTlDOvix9I?si=MD4KFeSm0ZrvGl1X
8. Black Mamba by Lia Kapp
This music video requires a disclaimer as the story alludes to themes of sexual violence and retaliation towards the victim’s assailant. Black Mamba is a very dark, very intense song and music video. The production is incredible with startling elements. I think it is very courageous of Lia to tackle this topic and she does it well. Black Mamba debuted on August 21, 2024 and has nearly 2,000 views. https://youtu.be/uR1jnI7KyPI?si=UYUEzPe__RS_qEGc
Final Thoughts
November was a great month for the Blind Reactions. The excitement of beginning this element of Fifteen Minutes of Fame in October carried into November with the added bonus of me beginning to find my footing with the production of the episodes.
