Welcome to another new release Friday, a first Friday of the month, and another Bandcamp Friday! Today NO DOUBT promises to be an EPIC day in music! There is so much to unpack with the releases today. First and foremost, mainstream music has had a huge day. Any time the one and only Chappell Roan releases music, the entire world seems to stop. Paramore fans should be very happy. The band’s leading lady, Hayley Williams, has released 17 singles. You heard me. An album’s worth of singles! One of the biggest names in music right now, David Kushner, has also released a brand new single.

Indie music is also having quite a big day. Many indie musicians who are seeing marginal success on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok had some big releases today. Allie Sherlock, colby!, Fulton Lee, and Emi Grace have all had releases, while some of Fifteen Minutes of Fame’s favorite artists also have released today: Uta K, the promising young rapper from Florida has released his new single, Solo and myah makes another huge stride to becoming a crossover talent with an incredible new release, Glitter. Pennsylvania spoken word poet, Circumstantial Saint, has also released a bew album, keeping his promise of releasing an album every month over the summer!

Bandcamp Friday is in full effect today as Impulse Nine have released digital and hard copy releases of their debut album! German indie folk artist, Novelley has released a beautiful new single, The Little End In Between. Remember, on Bandcamp Friday, when you purchase music from the artists, 100% of the proceeds go TO THOSE ARTISTS. That is a huge benefit to indie artists. So make sure to go and support our favorite independent musicians by purchasing their great music!

Here are some releases I would like to talk about today:

DEATH, Cover Art

DEATH by Megg Jacobs

Released on August 1st, 2025

About the Artist

North Carolina-based indie artist, Megg Jacobs is turning heads. With cover art that might imply she has found herself “on Dexter’s table,” as she is screaming encased in plastic wrap. This hard-hitting, metalcore artist is putting out some of the hardest hitting music in the scene that I’ve heard in a long time. Releasing the second part of a sequence of stories beginning with the song Ego that released in June, Jacobs continues to impress with an enduring vocal presence that stands out with every single release to date.

Jacobs is a new artist, having debuted in April of 2024 with her single, Without You. She would release two more singles last year: Close the Coffin and False God. In 2025, prior to Ego/Death, Jacobs released the March single, Pyrogen.

Listeners are starting to notice as Jacobs has had a steady and consistent influx of listeners and followers across social media. The premiere of her debut music video on YouTube has produced a staggering 24 thousand streams in just ONE MONTH. Needless to say, Jacobs is a new talent on the rise!

Fifteen Minutes of Fame Blind Reaction for Ego and Death

About the Song

Death is the 3rd single from North Carolina indie artist, Megg Jacobs, in 2025. It runs at just under 4 minutes, and was performed and recorded by Megg Jacobs independently. It serves as the second part of a series of releases after the June release of Ego. DEATH released on August 1st, 2025.

Jacobs impresses with her continued ability to scream, a talent necessary to maintain relevance in the metal scene. Unlike Black Metal, Death Metal or other sub genres that push the outer limits of Metal, Jacobs music maintains authenticity with the metal scene but also shows the potential to appeal to a market outside of itself. The fact that her music does this without compromising itself is extraordinary. There is a musical appeal, instrumentally, that casts a wide net, intriguing listeners so that when her vocals come in, they are properly showcased in a way that amplifies just how impressive they are.

Nothing Lasts Forever, Cover Art

Nothing Lasts Forever by Western Freeway

Released on August 1st, 2025

About the Artist

Western Freeway are an alt-rock duo from Brisbane, Australia. Building off of the very foundation of alternative rock, their influences stem anywhere from grunge, surf rock, punk, and garage band rock.

Debuting in 2022, Western Freeway have been busy, as their wheels of creativity have led them to several releases over the last three years. In 2022, they debuted with the release of a 5- song EP, The Birds in the Trees on September 1st. The next week, they followed with the 7-song EP, VOODOO MUFF VIBROLUX. Then on September 12th, they released a 4- song EP, Blue Skies. The very next day, another 4-song EP, Pet Store. Two weeks later, Lies, another 4-song EP. That would put them at 5 releases consisting of 24 songs that month. They would release 5 more EP’s in 2022.

In 2023, Western Freeway didn’t slow down at all, releasing 21 total releases, each with multiple tracks, including a greatest hits compilation of 16 songs, appropriately titled Sweet Sixteen. Then in 2024, they released another 14 multi- track releases, including a second greatest hits album; this one containing 20 songs, entitled Honey.

About the Song

Nothing Lasts Forever is the 15th EP release by indie/alt rock band, Western Freeway from Brisbane, Australia. The 3-song work runs at more than 7 minutes, and was recorded and performed by Western Freeway.

With a pep not too dissimilar of bands like Foo Fighters or Weezer, Western Freeway have a genre-enriched marketable sound that would be enjoyed by 90’s grunge/alt fans all over. Nothing Lasts Forever is dynamically varied, but the three tracks pace together pretty well, staying upbeat and fast overall.

Call Me Anytime features a closing guitar solo that brightened the overall performance of the song. The percussion stays extremely busy with each of the three tracks, but avoids being too ornamental.

For a band that produces as much music as they do (which it is possible they are producing music that had previously been written) Western Freeway are a band that have no problem in maintaining relevant, quality sound within the alt-rock genre. They are the perfect band for a fanbase that doesn’t want to wait around for their next release. With Western Freeway, an audience can count on a steady and diverse stream of new music annually, loaded with the authenticity of their individual sound, but performed to fresh new sounds within every release.

Feeding Frenzy, Cover Art

Feeding Frenzy by The Blimp

Released on July 31st, 2025

About the Artist

The Blimp are a favorite of Fifteen Minutes of Fame as they are no strangers to our platform. Last August, they were featured in our 24th article for their fantastic song, Growing Me. They were featured again in January in a Blind Reaction video for their song Love to Love.

Swedish rockers, Danyal Taylan, Peter Anderhagen, Jim Andersson, Jens Bjerelius, Christer Christansson, and Frans Oddner continue to steadily release enchanting and unique music that features big guitars, wide open percussion, pocket bass performance, and a dynamic vocalist that sings straight from the heart. Their melodies seem to bend reality just as if they were a small child teaching Keanu Reeves how to bend a spoon.

About the Song

Feeding Frenzy is the 4th single released by Swedish independent band, The Blimp, in 2025. The four and a half minute song released on July 30th. Feeding Frenzy was performed, recorded, and released independently by The Blimp through Blimp Records.

Staying true to their sound, Feeding Frenzy packs all of the sweet essentials that make The Blimp so exceptional into a brand new song. Opening with a melancholic guitar riff, the progression descends, allowing the guitar’s riff to chromatically step down. This song gives Radiohead energy. Though the two songs are different, I hear a vibe similar to A Wolf at the Door off of Hail to the Thief.

The difference is the vocal energy. Radiohead’s vocals have a sort of spoken-word performance throughout each verse that build into a more melodic chorus, but following the same sharp cadences of the verse.

The Blimp give a much different vocal performance, as the vocals are broader, more open, and anthemic. The chorus seems to develop sails as it steers over the melody of the guitars. The production is, once again, expertly crafted. The Blimp haven’t missed one single time on their approach in the engineering and editing process. This song is mixed to perfection, offering a balance at every aspect of the song.
