About the Artist

Every month, I have a long list of music to listen to from submissions for reviews. I always listen to the music first before I read about the artist because I want to be as unbiased as possible before I decide which songs I will write about. I am finding myself landing on more and more UK bands, which has me incredibly excited about the music that is coming from there. For fans of music, it is a great time to be there.

My latest obsession is Jamie Higgs, out of Liverpool. Higgs and his band are a pop rock group who offer a big, open sound guaranteed to electrify any audience.

Debuting in 2023, Higgs released the single Unconditional, a power ballad with an impressive build that locks in with the listener.

Higgs’ voice is distinct and powerful, and yet it also has this appealing insecurity about it that sounds like an artist who is being very vulnerable. It plays to the emotion that is being conveyed in the performance. With no releases in 2024, Higgs has just one release prior to this, his sophomore single.

About the Song

Peace in Your Sound is the first release in 2025 by Liverpool Artist, Jamie Higgs. It released on July 18th, 2025. It runs just under 4 minutes in length. Peace’s in Your Sound incorporates the full use of his rock band. Offering a moving progression, a dynamic percussion, and big, layered guitars, it is highlighted by big vocals that draw the audience to the front of the stage.

About the Music

Listening to Jamie Higgs, I can’t help but hear a subtle similarity to another UK band who incidentally had made a very public comeback recently, Oasis. The vocal performance hits similarly to Liam Gallagher’s. His cadence, enunciation. It’s very, very good.

I love the growth that can be heard from listening to Unconditional to listening to this record. There is a very clear depth that is in the songwriting here and the instrumentation is so full and impressive.

Now that he’s added a backing band to his performance, Higgs leads the group with a confidence that challenges the vulnerable undertones from his first release, though they’re still subtly there. As is the case with many things in life, even with the more affirmative side of him, he is maintaining loyalty to the emotional origin of the song and it almost sounds like it could take over whenever it wants to. It’s an appealing effect that makes this artist more approachable from a listener’s perspective.

Final Thoughts

Jamie Higgs has really brought it with his sophomore release. Peace in Your Sound is the exact song he needed to put out to his listeners after the quieter, simpler Unconditional. His band are a collection of talented performers who provide a cohesive energy capable of taking Higgs’ songwriting to the next level.

Higgs has also been demonstrating crossover potential with positive reviews on stage with his live performance. Having recently played at the Liverpool FC Homecoming parade to an electrified audience and headlining another sold out Liverpool show, Higgs is getting it done where it matters most: on the stage.

As 2025 begins the twilight of her life and we look ahead to the potential of 2026, Higgs will have played Tramlines Fringe Festival in Sheffield and looks forward to upcoming shows supporting other artists on the rise like The Crooks, Pastel, Shambolics, and more. At this rate, Higgs could be stealing some of the attention some of these more established artists will be getting as the potential is significant.
