~ About the Artist ~

So there I was, doomscrolling on TikTok, when I happened across a profile I hadn’t seen before. An artist I hadn’t heard of, singing a song that had just been released. The truth is, the moment I heard Malachi Nassér, I thought he was on the precipice of blowing up. He had a couple thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and his song – having released on Friday – had grabbed a little more than 3,000 plays in 4 days.

Today (Wednesday, two days later) Nassér is at 53,000 monthly listeners and U has a staggering 57,000 listens by noon. This is just the beginning. Sometimes, we hear a song and we just know. The second I pressed play, that’s exactly what happened. So naturally, I had to find out exactly who Malachi Nassér was.

I’ve learned that Nassér is a prodigy. The New York/New Jersey artist, at ten years of age, was an original cast member in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway production of School of Rock. At 15, he was performing with the Boston Pops Orchestra at the Boston Symphony Hall. At 19, he founded his own independent company, Destined Music Media.

As a recording artist, Nassér debuted in 2023, and in 2024 released his debut EP J.O.Y, an 8- song work that features singles Sorry, Want Me, and Hey Olympus.

Already, Nassér has accomplished incredible feats having performed on Broadway, and having shared the stage with legendary artists like Grammy Award Winning Victor Wooten, Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, and many others. In 2025, he has released the single Glorious, and has has hinted at the release of an upcoming album tentatively titled P.E.A.C.E.

~ About the Song ~

U is the second single released by indie artist Malachi Nassér on Friday, August 23rd, 2025. It is an indie folk, acoustic rock power ballad that runs at around three and a half minutes. U was independently recorded, performed, and produced by Malachi Nassér.

~ About the Music ~

There aren’t too many examples of songs that could be considered as uplifting as U is. Nasser’s latest release has a striking resemblance to Phillip Phillips’ mega hit Home. However, U transcends the emotional connection to the American Idol alum’s hit with indisputable context, as Nasser pays tribute to the relationship he has with his family.

U is straight from the heart.

This song is a testament to organic releases. As seen in this tutorial, Stomps and claps serve as the percussion, acoustic guitar, bass, and a very subtle electric guitar for lead. This and layered backing vocals to support the lead vocal performance by Nassér.

U may be stripped down but it has it all. It has a clear and powerful message, an anthemic and uplifting melody, and a beat that drives the music.

~ Final Thoughts ~

Malachi Nassér has written a song that could very well be his breakthrough moment. There is no doubt this talented, young artist has every single desirable component to make it in music. He doesn’t have anything to prove; he’s already proven himself. It’s really not a matter of if, but when. Chances are, when is happening right now.
