~Introduction~

As August comes to an end, we look forward to September, to Autumn; cooler days, less humidity, changing leaves, and the peacefulness that comes before the quiet of winter.

Here at Fifteen Minutes of Fame, we are looking forward to a new month of music, a new month of submissions, and a new opportunity to connect independent musicians with their audiences through new reviews, blind reactions, interviews, curated playlists, and through social media campaigns.

August, to date, may have been the quietest month since the start of Fifteen Minutes of Fame, having only published 6 articles, but that doesn’t mean there is any inclination to “slow down.” A lot has happened in August and I’m extremely excited to share it with you.

~What Happened in August? ~

As I mentioned, Fifteen Minutes of Fame may have only published 6 articles, but they were 6 incredible articles.

Elly Kace

First and foremost, we kicked off a Special Feature Review for Chicago/New York-based indie artist, Elly Kace, ahead of her upcoming album release for Seventh Gate. This was the first part in a 4-part review of the album, consisting of an interview and review of the first three singles. If you haven’t watched the interview, you can do so here:

There were new Blind Reactions, including a very special double-feature blind reaction featuring the indie metal vocalist, Megg Jacobs.

Blind Reaction Double Feature

Fifteen Minutes of Fame have now officially represented more than 160 artists across more than 70% of the states in the US, and 22 countries spanning 5 continents globally.

Collaborative Artist Network

Since partnering with Collaborative Artist Network, Daniel Grigson of Neccos for Breakfast, and founder of CAN! and I have been brainstorming of ways to provide that platform with exclusive FMOF content. August, we came up with the idea of New Release Fridays to be exclusively published on the CAN! platform, which is one of the reasons there were less articles published on the FMOF platform. Artists are STILL being represented by FMOF through CAN!

Impulse Nine

Also, if you missed the very end of July and beginning of August, Daniel and I also sat down and discussed the debut release of indie artist, Impulse Nine, an interview you can watch here:

I want to thank every single artist who submitted their music in August. You are all incredible musicians. Being an independent journalist can sometimes take its toll on other elements of my life. There are things like my profession, my family, and my mental and physical health that would and should take priority over the commitment I’ve made to FMOF and the artists we represent.

August has been the most challenging month yet. I am a punctual person in the morning, typically. I usually operate successfully on 5-6 hours of sleep, and the morning are typically the times in which I do most of my writing for FMOF. However, August turned out to be the month that running myself so hard would catch up to me. I’ve struggled with exhaustion. I’ve struggled with maintaining a positive emotional state. I even made an unfortunate visit to the ER due to a slight medical scare (turns out I’m ok).

I don’t tell you this because I am trying to make excuses. I don’t even like that word; excuses. It’s such a bullshit word. The fact is, we are all human beings. We are all going to have good moments, bad moments, we’re all going to perform at our best, and we will also perform at our worst. The fact of the matter is, August wasn’t my best month. The plan for September is to turn that around.

~ What’s Happening in September ~

First and foremost, you know who we are, you know what we do. It’s the SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN!!! And this one is HUGE. As you know, the typical campaigns are that we review any new released music from the first day of the prior month of that campaign. In this case, it would typically be any music released on August 1st or later.

HOWEVER

As my own personal apology for the lack-luster August publishings, I’ve decided to do a very Special Review/Blind Reaction campaign:

For September ONLY:

Fifteen Minutes of Fame will be accepting submissions for ANY INDEPENDENT RELEASES at ANY POINT IN TIME. If your release was in 2015, we will review it. 1975, we will review it! It doesn’t matter when, we are reviewing ANYTHING, as long as it was an independent release! The SAME goes for any music video releases. ANY TIME you released a music video, we will do a Blind Reaction for it! (Same 3 rules apply; no AI, no lyric videos, no live demos)

Also Happening in September

Lexie Modica

Fifteen Minutes of Fame had the very special privilege of sitting down with Lexie Modica, ahead of their upcoming single release of Bite the Apple, which will be releasing this Friday, September 5th. The interview will be published in the next two days, so keep your eyes open for it!

Golem Pink

Later this month, we will also be sitting down with Golem Pink, an indie band out of Portland, Oregon. Stay tuned for more information on this upcoming interview.

~ Breaking News ~

As many of you already know, I’ve been working on an album as I am also an independent musician myself. I released my first LP in 2023. Denouement is an album that holds a special place in my heart because it marked my return to music, after nearly 8 years of not having anything to do with it. As a challenge to myself and as a way of helping teach my children about production, I wanted to record the album in its entirety using GarageBand on my iPhone. Most of the programmed production was directly from GarageBand and I utilized my phone’s mic and a simple iRig interface to record what few instruments and mics I did use for the album. But all amps, effects, and everything else were strictly GarageBand and all done on an iPhone. I’m proud of that.

The downside is the album sounds like it was produced on an iPhone using GarageBand. It’s not the best quality. It’s also recycled songs that were mostly written a decade or more earlier from when I was frequently playing music. Truth be told, I was out of touch with the guy who wrote those songs.

I wanted to do something that was true to me, true to who I am today, and something I could really say I was proud of. While working on Denouement, I started writing new music. Now, after having written more than 50 new songs, trying different sounds, different ideas, and coming to a conclusive vision for what I wanted this release to be, this work has been narrowed down to a 9- song LP. August marks a pivotal moment for this project as the tracking has officially been completed.

Evaporate Cover Art

There are collaborations that will be announced in the coming months as we approach a realistic timeline for release. But as we move into production, editing, and mastering for Evaporate, I thought I would share one of those collaborative efforts.

Evaporate is officially being produced by Neccos Records! That’s right, Daniel Grigson, owner of Neccos Records, founder of Collaborative Artist Network, frontman of Neccos for Breakfast, and all around AMAZING DUDE will be the lead producer for Evaporate. I will be serving as a secondary producer in a supportive capacity through FMOF Music Entertainment. It feels incredible to be putting this project into such trustworthy hands. I have every bit of confidence that Daniel will take great care of this work as he is in tune with the vision I have for it. So, a big SHOUT OUT to Daniel and Neccos Records for hearing the potential in Evaporate and giving this old dog one last chance to ride off into the sunset.

Stay tuned for upcoming news about Evaporate. As this project nears completion, there will be an online campaign launching to promote it, complete with an updated EPK, promo images, visualizers, and teasers of some of the songs. I cannot wait to share this work with you!

~ Final Thoughts ~

Going into September, I am very excited for all that is to come. A new campaign, a new season, new music, and new connections. As 2025 continues to wind down, there is still so much time left to meet new artists, hear new music, and enjoy this beautiful world we have had the privilege of inhabiting. You all mean so much to me.

Go press play!
