~ About the Artist ~
I started listening to Myles Lloyd a few weeks ago. Based out of Montreal, Lloyd is an R&B artist that pulls inspiration from interesting places like K-pop, Hyper-Pop, and Alt-pop genres. Of the artists I’ve reviewed, he is one of the more established to date. Hot off of the momentum of last year’s release of I’m Still Thinking, Lloyd has performed at festivals like Lollapalooza Berlin and Sol Blume, he’s been editorially featured in PAPER Magazine, Teen Vogue, Wonderland Magazine, and Complex, and he has accumulated more than 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify with songs like Crazy and Drive Me Crazy having earned tens of millions of streams, respectively.
I found I’m Still Thinking randomly and was steadily listening to it in my rotation of albums I’m currently obsessing over, when (to my surprise) I opened my inbox last week and discovered an EPK from Tallulah PR featuring Lloyd and his upcoming single, DMC. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to jump into this music.
The thing I love most about Lloyd’s music is it’s not typical. With 4 albums to date, he gives you a different look every time. His first album, Goodbye is organic, traditional, and centers around his vocal performance. In a lot of ways, it is minimalist-driven, especially when going back and listening to it after hearing the rest of his work. Overall, it has a very solemn tone.
Switching over to Forever, Yours, the production jumps to more complex arrangements immediately. With similarities to artists like The Weeknd, Forever, Yours is more synthetic, has complex percussive moments, and the production is dynamic and driven. Lloyd also shows more, vocally. The talent from Goodbye is still there; we just get more looks. The theme is bigger, almost cinematic.
With WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?, Lloyd combines elements of his first two records, maintaining a dynamic production style but stripping back the complexity of the compositions, going back to more minimalist styles like he exhibited in Goodbye. With the energy kept in the production and the clear look at the vocals, it gives a more intimate vibe but offers a crisp sound. This album has a similar feel to Justin Bieber’s more recent work, particularly the two SWAG albums. Lloyd utilizes a variety of instruments to tell his stories on WHAT MORE CAN I SAY? and they explore influences of different genres and even exhibit culturally dynamic moments throughout.
Then, with last year’s I’m Still Thinking, Lloyd gave his audience his best work to date. This album has all of the above mentioned. Intimacy, organics, strong production, dynamic influences, a diversity of performance and sound. Right from the start with the title track, the blend of organic instrumentation mixed with the synths and production quality; all pulled back to let Lloyd do what he needs to do vocally. I still get the Bieber and The Weeknd vibes but I also hear Childish Gambino a little in this record too. Namely, his latest two albums; Atavista and Bando Stone and the Brave New World.
Lloyd is a talented lyricist, a strong songwriter, and an even better performer. His range is honestly a little insane. This guy is a fucking musician, to put it bluntly.
~ About the Song~
DMC is Myles Lloyd’s first release of 2026; releasing today, February 20th, 2026. It features GEMINI, Karencici, and Junny. It runs at a little more than three and a half minutes.
“Seeing all the love coming out of Korea really reignited my passion for the high energy that K-pop brings. I went back and revisited a lot of the songs I used to love and discovered some newer artists along the way like Karencici, JUNNY, and Gemini. Even though it felt like a long shot, I knew I had to find a way to bring them all together on one record.” ~ Myles Lloyd
DMC, an acronym for his hit song Drive Me Crazy is a refreshed look of one of Lloyd’s most popular songs. Honestly, when I listen to Drive Me Crazy, I don’t hear any way the song can possibly get better. This is a testament to the capacity of talent Myles Lloyd is dealing with because he managed to find a way to make it more dynamic. The incorporation of different artists in DMC really pull every moment out of the song in a new and exciting way.

~ Final Thoughts ~
A new(ish) album, a new single packed with incredible features, and upcoming tour dates. 2026 is officially off and running for Myles Lloyd.
If there are any readers in the Vancouver or Calgary areas, there are two great opportunities to see Lloyd as he is supporting JUNNY on his North American tour.

With the amount of music Myles Lloyd has produced over the span of just a few years, I’m sure there is more lined up for the year as well.
