~ About the Artist ~

UK based singer/songwriter, Amity is finding his creative stride and people are beginning to notice. Last year, I received a submission by the alt pop musician when he submitted his single Hurricane Heart for review. Not only was I thoroughly impressed with this work, I became an instant fan. My fandom was also quickly rewarded with the discovery that this release was ahead of the release of Amity’s debut EP, Ephemeral which released in July of 2025.

Obviously, I’m not the only fan of Amity. Making his debut at the tender age of 15, he has already been featured in The Guardian, he’s been dubbed a Future Maker Artist by Royal Albert Hall, and he’s a recipient of RBE music excellence. He is also a resident artist at London Soho’s Spice of Life.

In addition to his musical feats, Amity is an exemplary role model for equality. Motivated by the polarized political and cultural climates across the globe, he has taken to social media to speak out for equal rights. I was particularly moved by the message behind his single of To Make a Man. This brilliant song is an ironic call to patriarchy, with a subtextual message that the cliche “manly” traits that are aligned with masculinity are actually rather toxic and, perhaps, men should be objective to changing the narrative. It’s an opinion I happen to wholeheartedly agree with.

A few months ago, Amity posted on social media, inserting his opinion into the debate of whether or not “it’s all men.” I felt he and I bonded on our aligned opinion. I think the song is pointed, beautiful, and brave. He also released a music video for To Make a Man, posted below, which you should definitely check out.

~ About the Song ~

CIty of Stars is the first single released by UK artist, Amity in 2026. It released February 20th to all streaming platforms. In two weeks, it has already earned more than two thousand streams on Spotify alone.

City of Stars, primarily accompanied by piano, with layered synths is a ballad that sways to a 6/8 tempo. Additional percussion is applied, giving emotional accent marks to transitional moments in the piece. Amity’s vocals begin showcasing his lovely tenor tone. As the song transitions into the second verse, Amity builds to opening into a wonderful falsetto before closing with a powerful climatic ending.

The production, like other releases, is superb. Amity’s specialty lies within the “epic ballad” category of alt-pop, R&B, and pop music. It lives in the ambient dreamscapes that sprinkle reverbs and delays onto sustained progressions. His songwriting allows him to sustain long vocal passages that can showcase his melodic talents in some places and in others, his songwriting capabilities as a lyricist.

City of Stars is a radio ready track that has been independently produced by an artist who is strategically positioning themselves to be able to cross over into the mainstream. Amity is hard working, creative, and conscientious. He is aware of the quality of work he is producing and he is finding ways to translate that work to live performances. He’s also aware of the importance of established image on social media. These components are lining up nicely and putting him in a place to be very successful.

The bottom line is, if somebody is not taking Amity seriously by now, it’s past time that they should be.
