Satellite, by Charlotte Sands

LA-based alt-pop and rock artist Charlotte Sands hardly needs an introduction. With more than 750,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and hits like Dress earning more than 62 million streams, she is well on her way to being a household name in the music industry. In fact, Sands has earned more than 300 million total streams across Spotify, she has charted in the US Top 40 for more than 15 weeks, and she won Best Breakthrough Album at the Heavy Music Awards. She has also earned recognition for her live performances playing shows and festivals headlined by artists like YUNGBLUD and My Chemical Romance.

Charlotte Sands releases her highly anticipated third album, Satellite today, March 6th. This 10-song album runs at just under 30 minutes. Satellite has dynamic moments for every fan of pop rock music, as she has the ability to put big rock anthems out that are comparable to artists like Paramore, but she can strip the sound down musically to be similar to Billie Eilish.

Satellite was born from a search for meaning, identity, and self-worth. It’s a collection of moments from the last two years of my life – the highs and the lows, the joy and the grief. It’s about drifting, discovering, questioning your purpose, and learning to trust the quiet pull that brings you back to yourself.” ~ Charlotte Sands (Press Release)

I personally love this album. I love how clear the message is while also having the ability to be so many things. The title track has such a good electro-pop percussion but has this great house-theme capability to go really hard. It almost has a NIN Closer feel rhythmically.

She can also go full volume, rock out sesh with songs like One Eye Open. Full, layered guitars, heavy bass and full rock kit. The same with HUSH.

Then, she can bring it down with more relaxed, pop-oriented songs like Back to You. Acoustic guitar on the verses met with big, anthemic choruses. She strips down the instrumentals even more with the incredibly beautifully written water me down. It is a nice, polished mid-tempo ballad that really gives her voice an opportunity to stand out. This track, to me, is most aligned with some of the best mainstream music playing today.

Charlotte Sands, has taken her success from her sophomore album, can we start over? and given us a bigger, better look into her vision as a musician. For all of the areas where she has found success, I think she has done a wonderful job of proving she is a capable artist with more than just a potential for staying power. She is capable of being a dynamic artist that can produce pivotal music that could shape the future of the music industry.

Fix Your Hearts, Album by Joe McCorriston

Joe McCorriston, a UK-based indie rock musician with 16 years of experience in the music industry, has developed a cult following over the years by touring the globe and playing his “pop songs for punk kids.” His inspirations span from folk legend Bob Dylan to the punk rock icons who make up Green Day.

McCorriston has 5 previous album releases, not including a live album released in 2023, and with more than a thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, he has several songs that have garnered more than 100,000 streams; including the song Alive, which has more than 160,000 streams to date.

Fix Your Hearts, the 6th studio album by UK indie artist Joe McCorriston, releases today, March 6th. At 11 songs, it runs at a little more than 31 minutes. It is a pop rock, indie rock record that strikes a similar tone to Dashboard Confessional.

Fix Your Hearts is upbeat, charged with positive, uplifting melody, through catchy, short songs ranging between 2 and 3 minutes ( with a couple of exceptions). Signs is the record that sets the tone for the entire album: a powerful opening chorus, driving tempo, and overall energetic vibe. He changes the tone a bit with Angelina, offering a more organic, acoustic vibe.

Fix Your Hearts presents the kind of energy that shows Joe McCorriston has no intention of slowing down any time soon. He is still pouring his passion into his music, still finding joy in playing live performances, and his songwriting is maturing in all of the right ways showing a seasoned musician with more relevance today than ever before.
