Greetings from a Southern Tinseltown, Cover Art

Savannah Campbell isn’t yet a household name. Not many people have heard her music. Residents of Gallatin, TN, however are a bit more familiar. I happen to be one of them. I first saw Savannah Campbell’s name back in 2024 while taking my son to a guitar lesson and seeing a flyer promoting Campbell’s last album, Wrong Side of the Radio posted. I listened and was blown away. It didn’t just sound like this brilliant blend of alt rock and roots country. It sounded battle tested; like it was coming from an artist in their forties or fifties. Campbell, at that time, was barely in her twenties.

Savannah Campbell has since relocated to Florida. Her blend of alt, rock, folk, and roots music gives off an ambient vibe that would pair well with fans of artists like Liz Phair and Sheryl Crow.

Campbell is a very talented DIY artist, often incorporating artistic visual representations like videos and shorts to promote her releases. In addition to vocal work, she is a talented multi instrumentalist, often showcasing her performance capabilities on her social media platforms.

I’ve been covering Campbell’s music for a little while now and I can say it has been great getting to know her work and getting to know her as well.

FMOF Single Review of Psychedelics by Savannah Campbell

Greetings from a Southern Tinseltown

About a year ago, Campbell mentioned she was working on new material for an album. I was really interested to see how her music progressed from Wrong Side of the Radio. Campbell gave us our first look last August with the single Flyin’ Dirty. Right away, I could feel influence from the new location. She embodied that influence with her visuals as well, releasing a video from the beach along with the song. Flyin’ Dirty was upbeat and crafty, and it really pulled influence from Campbell’s southern roots.

Campbell would release her second single, I Wanna Catch an Angel in October of 2025. Taking a little more of a slower, groovier approach, I Wanna Catch an Angel feels like 90’s alt rock. Like Jewel, Crow, and The Wallflowers. Campbell exhibits a lyrical superiority to most people her age that would suggest she is decades ahead of the competition. Those lyrics aren’t just performed, they’re felt. Every line is delivered with an emotional conviction that is felt by the listener.

Campbell’s next single, Charm was her first single released in 2026, dropping in January. This release would be what would be the opening song on Greetings from a Southern Tinseltown. Opening with a lone fiddle stylistically comparable to the Irish folk song, Ashokan Farewell. Just a touch of reverb on the violins gives it this feeling the song is rolling off of grassy hills before coming in with the acoustic guitar and the phenomenal opening line, “I hate this southern girl inside. She smiles so much to stay alive.”

My prized SIGNED copy of Wrong Side of the Radio

Campbell’s last single, Darts, is a lovely slow jam. As the accompaniment sort of slow dances in the background, Campbell wows with lyrics that are delivered in a smooth but percussive cadence before resolving in the chorus and its first like “Look at those sharp things fly.”

Now, with Greetings from a Southern Tinseltown here for us to listen to and enjoy the entire picture, I am in awe of how imaginative it is. This album just sounds like the artist is examine the world from an entirely independent place. It sounds like she wrote half of these songs riding in the passenger seat of a car with the windows rolled down on a sunny day, feet on the dash, hand out the window, as it dances and rolls though the swiftly passing air.

My personal favorite (subject to change as I continue to listen) for the moment is With Love. This song is old country, and she gets every bid of the soul of the song. If I could offer the greatest compliment I could possibly give here, I wish my father were alive to hear it. I know he would love this song and he would be amazed at the young, talented artist who performed it.

Greetings from a Southern Tinseltown is an immensely special album. It’s absolutely one of my favorites of the year to date. This is an absolute must.

Greetings from a Southern Tinseltown is streaming on all major platforms and is available for purchase on CD.
