When I was a child, one of my favorite movies was The Neverending Story. Like most kids my age, I was captivated by a world of imagination as I was taken on adventures with Atreyu, Falcor, and Artex. I fantasized about battling Gmork and the Nothing, and I vowed I was going to grow up to marry Tami Stronach, the Childlike Empress.

Well, at some point I started daydreaming less, my focus went from tales of heroism to ways to pay a bill, and unfortunately Tami never returned any of my letters so I’m not sure she was ever aware of our engagement.

I grew up thinking that Atreyu was this great hero and Gmork and The Nothing were these evil villains. Once I’d grown, I realized that I was actually wrong. The hero was Bastian. His father was the evil henchman who was actually doing The Nothing’s bidding. The Nothing did exist and still does, to this day.

The Nothing is what happens when we listen to our father who tells us to keep both feet on the ground, rather than allowing ourselves to dream and float up in the clouds. It is putting down the books and turning off the movies. It is ignoring our children when they want to show us a drawing or hear a poem. It is the parent that tells their child to major in business instead of music theory or art. It isn’t just all around us, it is within us. It happens at one point in our lives and it slowly and steadily destroys our dreams and our fantasies until there’s nothing left.

There are heroes among us, like Bastian who refuses to put the book down, like Atreyu who is willing to ride to the ends of an imaginary universe to name a Childlike Empress, and like Priscilla Hernández, who devote their lives to creating a world of fantasy so that we might remember how truly beautiful it is to dream.

Priscilla Hernández, who also goes by the performance name Yidneth, is a singer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist from Spain. Additionally, she is a visual artist, model, and a writer. Her entire persona envelops a world of fantasy, of dreams, and of extraordinary things. She allows herself to exist within a limitless universe that exists in her imagination where “Lost Souls” like the one seen below exist among “the underliving creatures.”

The Music

There is a lot to love about what Priscilla Hernández does through her art. I am particularly drawn to her music. Like her persona, her music seems to exist in a place just beyond the structured genres created by our concrete world of men in suits. Hernández transcends beyond that world, while leaving recognizable markings in her music to help guide those of us who have forgotten how to imagine. There are elements of pop, new age, Irish folk, folk, electronic, and classical music within her songwriting. Her vision is similar to other FMOF talents like Jasmine Catherine, who composes through the eyes of desiring a world of fantasy. Of earlier work by Sprawler FU, who would create great costumes and characters to tell her elaborate stories. Like Elly Kace, who dared to explore new horizons of music by experimenting with her love of opera and classical music in a pop genre setting, coining a distinctly unique genre.

Hernández’s music encapsulates all of these characters as she creates music, visual art, and reinvents herself over and over again through her music.

She released her debut album, Ancient Shadows, in 2006. Ancient Shadows is 19 songs and runs at just over one hour. It immediately introduces her audience to the boldness of her vision through ambient, imaginative pieces of music that are built on reverb, synths, and a collection of exotic instruments all accompanying her beautiful soprano voice.

Her second album, The Underliving, released in 2011, and is 18 songs that run at one hour and eleven minutes. They feature some of her more popular songs like In the Mist, which has been streamed over 100,000 times on Spotify, and the music video featuring the song has been viewed on YouTube more than 110,000 times.

Hernández’s latest release was the single, Mora-La, which released in May of 2025. It runs at 3 minutes and is a beautiful exhibition of how talented of a musician Hernández is. With an accompaniment on the piano and the flute, she also performs the vocals in another language (of which I am unclear).

There is no doubt that Priscilla Hernández may be one of the most creative people to ever be featured on the FMOF platform. We have featured hundreds of artists who have created singles and albums. We have featured multi-faceted artists who have been able to provide artistic support to their work in the forms of illustrations, music videos, and costumes. Hernández creates entire worlds with living creatures. She paints them into life. Her voice gives them breath, their own voices, and it tells their story. It is truly remarkable what she has been doing over the course of 20 years.

In many of my articles, I like to end with the phrase, “Go press play,” and I hope readers absolutely do that here. Priscilla Hernández can be enjoyed by doing a bit more. Go to her website. Listen to the music. Watch the videos. View the artwork. Read the blog. Familiarize yourself with this world she has created. All yourselves to let your toes leave the earth and feel that rush as your head once again reaches the clouds.
