Michael Daughtry, an independent recording artist out of North Carolina has been on a recent tear. The Billboard-charting Berklee alum recently released Diamond Life, an 8 song LP featuring the single Sweet Forgiveness (click link to read FMOF review) in June. He quickly followed it with the July release of Everybody Needs a Win.
Additionally, he’s been making the rounds with live performances, a trip to Boston for Berklee’s Alumni Weekend, and he’s recently been inducted into 2026’s Recording Academy Class.
There aren’t many more driven and motivated than Daughtry, so it’s no wonder that he is still pushing music out and his latest, a collaboration with Ayana Laurene, is really, really good.
Share the Night is the third single release for North Carolina Indie Adult Contemporary Artist, Michael Daughtry, who also released the album, Diamond Life, earlier in the year. At just over two minutes, this collaboration with Ayana Laurene released on September 22nd.
Share the Night is short, sweet, and it does a lot in its 135 seconds. It is mid-tempo and infused with blues and jazz, a recipe where Daughtry excels. His piano accompaniment dances around the vocal performances and the rest of the band fall right in line with their accompaniment.
The standout of this performance is the collaboration between Daughtry and Laurene. The two voices blend together beautifully, working almost as a conversation during the voices before merging into a true duet for the choruses. They meet each other’s energy well and each performance accents and compliments the other.
For Daughtry, this performance is one I’ve come to expect from a talented musician who hasn’t forgotten that it also takes hard work and dedication. As for Laurene, this is a new and welcomed surprise. She instantly has my attention and I hope to hear more from her.
Michael Daughtry continues to impress. Not only is he producing a lot of music this year, it is meeting a standard of high quality. Share the Night is another energetic release that is unapologetically positive as it has been a perfect start to my day.
