Sandro Bevilaqua

It was just a couple of months ago that I covered Soldiers by New Jersey indie artist Sandro Bevilaqua. This was his third single ahead of his first album since 2023’s Lila EP. I was so touched by how it, Evergreen, and Glaciers/One Last Hail Mary all could really be felt. Felt like how we feel weather change.

I remember writing about the meaning things and how something can mean something else to someone else. This was all in response to a conversation I had with my son. I felt like that conversation especially meant something right before listening to Bevilaqua’s music. Now, I know it was all supposed to happen when and how it did.

New England, From Memory

New England, From Memory releases today, October 9th, 2026. It is 8 songs and runs at 32 minutes. It features exceptional vocal and instrumental work from New Jersey independent artist, Sandro Bevilaqua. New England, From Memory is being released independently by Bevilaqua.

Again, I hear Sufjan Stevens. I hear more of the old alt-folk sound that once was popularized by Bon Iver in his For Emma days. The use of the slide guitar, the layered acoustics. The layers upon layers of vocals and the beautiful use of falsetto. Everything sounds rich and organic. The reverb settles over the music like a foggy morning.

In Another Timeline, Sandro Bevilaqua Would Already be a Household Name

We thought we knew what gatekeeping was before streaming. Before algorithms. Before the feeding frenzy of trying to get followers, clicks, likes, and views. We had no idea.

What a sight it would have been to walk into a little venue in the Garden State and hear Bevilaqua playing these songs before all of the nonsense. I guarantee I would have been knocking people over to get to the merch table in hopes of getting my hands on a cd.

Fuck the algorithms. We don’t deserve music this good. I only hope one person reads this and looks the album up. I mean, I hope ten thousand people find it. It deserves an audience. Sandro Bevilaqua has got something extraordinary here. I’m glad I got to listen to it. It’s going to get 4 and a half stars out of 5 from me on revised as well. It’s really, really good.

Go press play.

  1. Maybe he’ll cross the river and play in Philly sometime!

    1. That would definitely be worth a stop to listen! This would be a great live experience with a 4-5 piece band, so long as everybody is doing the vocals. Get a couple acoustic guitars, piano, bass, and percussion. It would be really special.
