The Smashing Times are a fun band from Baltimore, Maryland, though I suppose “fun” is subjective and my use of it may say more about me than about their music, which is rough-hewn and more than a little grainy. But what can I say? I love hearing the room in a recording. I love knowing real people made it. But enough about me.

“Noburu’s Eyes” is the featured track on the latest album from The Smashing Times. It sounds like 60’s garage rock–largely due to an abundance of jangly guitars and tape hiss–and the drums call to mind The Velvet Underground. The album is called Come Along With Me, by the way, and listening to it is like stumbling upon an ancient demo tape.
