In August, Mariel Gesualdi gave listeners her first release in nearly three years with the single Running Out of Time. Almost immediately, listener activity spiked within her streaming platform, as listener activity spiked from the hundreds to the thousands in a matter of weeks. Now, 6 weeks later, she is following this release with a second new single.

Searching for a Sign (October 14th) matches the style of Running Out of Time, but shows a slower, groovier perspective. It still has that effortless quality that places it in the realm of Americana: a pleasant blend of pop, country, and alternative rock, but with a slightly more relaxed beat.
The production quality on the vocals is notably good. The mix sounds so incredible. I love the panned harmonies on the line “I don’t know what I’m trying to find” in the hook.” The acoustic guitar modestly guides the song from start to finish. There are two different electric guitars panned that are playing different things. One is arpeggiated chords, and the other is saturated reverb with a simple, sliding lead part providing a nice accent to the song. The percussion is simple and controls the change of each phrase.
Overall, Searching for a Sign, is a high quality release that compares to artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Bebe Stockwell, RYMAN, and other crossover roots talents that are popular right now.
