The first time I heard music by fiig, I became an instant fan.

It was recently, too. July of this year, right after they released their single, Guinea Pig. I enjoyed the song so much, I added it to my “go-to” fall playlist and have listened to it a few times already.

Independent recording artist, fiig, is from London. They are a queer, nonbinary artist and after subsequent single releases, are set to release their debut EP. “The EP is heavily folk inspired and talks about a range of different aspects of my life and the world, and I think each song will speak to a range of people.”

Fiig began working on what would become leave your feelings with the moon, in 2024 after acquiring their first acoustic guitar. Working with producer, Fionn, they built every song into their finished product.

Leave your feelings with the moon is the debut EP from London-based artist, fiig. It is 5 songs that run at 17 minutes. It releases today, October 26th. All songs written and performed by fiig. Leave your feelings with the moon is an independent release.

Musically, each track consists of layered acoustics, gentle percussion and ambient synth that blend into the sound. Then, in Mother there is also a string section that offers a beautiful texture to the entire song. In Mooncalf, there is even a horn part that gives a bit of diversity the dynamics of the overall album.

The vocal performance of fiig is extraordinary. There is an element of soul/R&B to her sound. She has a quick and effortless vocal roll that provides a nice bit of ornamentation. She has a silky quality to her tone and her vibrato is rich and smooth.

Overall, leave your feelings with the moon is a very strong debut.

The EP has a solid overall sound. It has a consistent vibe throughout. It is more on the mellow tempo with a brighter progression. There is thematic essence to the synths incorporated from song to song. The vocal performance doesn’t try to outperform the music and it’s also not lost in the mix. In fact, the album as a whole passes the “Goldilocks test:” it’s not too hot, it’s not too cold. It’s just right.
