AiramFM, an alt-pop indie artist out of Denmark, has a reputation for dreamy, ambient synth-pop styled music that strikes a deep, emotional chord with her audience. She has steadily been releasing music since 2022, a choice she made as a way to heal after the tragic loss of her mother, who passed away from cancer. In writing music, not only has she found a way to cope with grief and manage anxiety, but she has found a true passion for it as well.
The Imposter is about the feeling of being different and never quite feeling like you fit in. About growing up with a sense of being “wrong,” or “off,” and not being able to find your place in a world that seems like it’s made for everyone else.” ~ AiramFM on her new single.
The Imposter, AiramFM’s 24th single, released on April 17th and is her first release of 2026. It is written, performed, and produced by AiramFM.
The Imposter is AiramFM’s latest contribution to her synth heavy, alt-pop catalog of work. Backed primarily by a pulsing synth tone performed on the keyboard and a gentle-but-steady percussion, AiramFM shines with a fluid arrangement of leading and backing vocals.
Lyrically, she delivers powerful and poignant lines, one right after another. “Will I flee from the greedy claws of society or will I fade away?” I can’t speak from her perspective but when I try to consider where she’s writing from, being an introvert myself that finds themselves in the impossible position of having to “promote” myself, I really connect with these lyrics.
It’s a tightrope walk between skyscrapers, really. We have evolved to a world where introverts who get anxiety from public speaking and performance are tasked with convincing the global stage that their music is what audiences should be listening to. Again, not speaking for her but possibly relating to her, I get anxiety just contemplating that. Don’t get me wrong, I do love to perform. I love playing music and merging with the performative side of me that lays dormant until that time comes where nothing else matters but the music and how it’s performed. That doesn’t mean I don’t struggle with getting there. Imposter syndrome gets so many of us. We chase our heroes and mentors who came for us and just when we are getting there, we contemplate our own worthiness.
I don’t presume to think I know exactly what AiramFM is thinking, but I have a deep connection to her music and I believe part of that has to do with our aligned emotional connection to music. It is passionate and it is conflicting in many, many ways.
The Imposter is yet another example of just how in touch AiramFM is with her feelings, the world around her, and her ability to have real, emotional connections when and where it matters most. It is a beautiful ballad. She is a beautiful and talented musician; a kindred spirit. She may feel like it but she is no imposter. She is very real, very capable, and she is making an impact every single time she releases new music.
Go press play.
