Man, I get so excited to hear new Too Hot For Leather music. This incredible indie rock band out of Nashville, Tennessee are one of the bands directly responsible for Fifteen Minutes of Fame coming to fruition. I had found this band on social media in the months leading up to the launch of this platform. Their social media campaigns were unique, witty, and full of fresh ideas that embraced the “norms” of being in a rock band in the 20’s (still feels weird to call the “20’s” the 20’s but I’m doing it). A quick scroll through their socials and it doesn’t take long to see that there is a legit connection between lead singer Shannon, guitar player Ryan, bassist, John, and drummer Kevin. A connection that also enhances their cohesive energy through the production of their music.
In July, of 2024, Too Hot for Leather was one of the first features on this platform, as they released their debut single, Show Me What You’ve Got. In the span of these two years, they have released several singles, as well as an exclusive physical EP that includes their first 6 singles. They have played shows all across the US and are currently on the most recent leg of their Superhero tour. They have received nearly 300,000 streams on Spotify alone, and they have 10s of thousands of followers across all of their social media platforms.
In January, I got to sit down and talk to the band as they prepared to depart for The Superhero Tour and I found them to be even cooler than expected. Great personalities, great senses of humor, and they were full of incredible stories of how they started out, helpful tips for indie artists who are looking for ways to be as successful, and hints at upcoming news and events.
Later that month, they released their new single, Beef Stew, along with an incredible and hilarious music video that included one of the most epic food fights I’ve ever seen. Then in March, they released their second single, Doubt, before releasing a new, physical EP, Superhero Wannabes! Today, that EP has been made available across all streaming platforms.
Superhero Wannabes!

Superhero Wannabes! is the (official) debut EP of Nashville-based rock band, Too Hot For Leather. It officially released on June 1st, 2026 and features 7 songs that run at 26 minutes. It was released by Too Hot For Leather LLC and is available for physical purchase at their website (click here). Superhero Wannabes! features the previous singles Beef Stew and Doubt.
For any listener that is walking into a Too Hot For Leather experience for the first time, I’ll keep it simple: this band wants to turn the volume up, they want to see the crowd dancing and singing along, and they are trying to have fun. Superhero Wannabes! is all of that and more. They turn the volume all the way up and they step on the accelerator from start to (almost) finish, with the exception of the release of their first true ballad. Each song has big guitars, full drums, layered sound, driving bass, all accompanying Shannon Sperl’s powerful vocals. The band also provide layers of backing vocals to support the lead vocal.
Every single member of this band are experts at their instruments. They are experienced performers and they have excellent crowd rapport. Superhero Wannabes! is produced to the highest quality.
As I mentioned before, the band have released two music videos to go with the two singles for this EP and the production of these videos are also done very well. Too Hot For Leather is marketing themselves as a fun-loving rock band, and they are that, but they are categorically doing everything 100% right. They aren’t rushing to find mainstream success, instead they are steadily building a solid fanbase who are seeking them out on a monthly basis. They have been methodical about how they approach their social media marketing and they’ve been diligent with it. They don’t oversaturate their audiences with an abundance of releases, which leaves us eagerly anticipating their next music. Most importantly, they leave it all on the stage. Night after night, they give every audience 100%. I love seeing how completely united they are on their vision. When speaking to them, I really got the impression they were brothers (and sister) aligned in their ambitions. It was truly impressive.
I want to talk for one moment about the closing track, Father’s Daughter. I was excited to hear this one because this is the first ballad by the band. Featuring a piano performance by the band’s drummer, Kevin Keith, and a cello performance by Alex Stradal. This performance is sensational. To hear Sperl in a completely different element was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. She nailed the performance. Truly extraordinary. Her tone is pure, and precise. As she transitions from her chest voice to her head voice, it is perfect. The song is heartbreaking. The lyrics are subtly abstract, but tell a story of a narrator’s volatile relationship with their father and how they struggle with some of the same demons their father also struggled with. It also indicates the father has passed which amplifies the grief of this story as well. As a person who had a very volatile relationship with their father, who looks just like their father, and who also has experienced the loss of their father, this one hits on every single level.
I’ve been eager to hear a multi-song release from this band (though I have the first CD, that technically doesn’t count because they are just a compilation of all of their released singles). I have been listening to my CD of Superhero Wannabes! for a month now and I haven’t stopped. This is straight-to-formula rock that is 100% guaranteed to impress. Whether you are a listener who likes big guitars, drummers that use every bit of their kit, bass that can’t be played within any close vicinity of a fault line, or a powerful vocalist that can hypnotize her audience, Too Hot For Leather will have that key component you are looking for.

Most importantly, Go Press Play!!!
