Olivia Miceli, an indie-pop artist out of Stoke-on-Trent in the U.K, has been dropping hints for a couple of years that she is working on something big. Everybody Wants Him is the second release by indie artist, Olivia Miceli, in 2026. Ahead of her third LP, A Romantic’s Worst Nightmare, it released on Wednesday, July 29th. It runs at around 3 minutes and 20 seconds and features Miceli on vocals and synths. In fact, she wrote, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced the record.

There is a noticeable difference when listening to tracks like Everybody Wants Him and Click, then going back to Nostalgic Heartbreak. The production is crisp, more polished. The songwriting has matured. The tone is light-hearted and fun. Sure, Miceli is sometimes writing about heartbreak but the music is flowing through every single emotional context of the lyrics and drawing listeners like moths to the flame. It’s quite similar to another Olivia, Olivia Rodrigo.

Everybody Wants Him tells the story of Miceli of how she has a crush that begins to overwhelm her thoughts. It details how, when we first start developing feelings for someone, our thoughts over that person can almost seem obsessive. They have a momentary immunity, as it seems as though they can do no wrong and every other person around feels the same way about them than we do. It swirls around the insecurities of whether or not they think of you the same way or if they are “just being nice.”

Everybody Wants Him is well written, it is skillfully performed; both instrumentally and vocally, and (once again) it is produced to perfection. Honestly, it’s not even fair how good Miceli is as a producer. There are studios with tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and teams of musicians collaborating to produce music that can’t touch this record. As a guy from Nashville, I can confidently say this sounds like a press that came straight off of music row. I also think this is her best release since Click, maybe even a little better.

Looking Ahead to A Romantic’s Worst Nightmare

I’ve had an advance listen to A Romantic’s Worst Nightmare and I gotta say, I really think this album is crazy good. The improvement from Nostalgic Heartbreak to where she is today is a story in itself. We have now heard 4 of the 8 tracks: Click, Everybody Wants Him, Darling, He Doesn’t Care, and Friday the 13th. The four songs carry so well, and they pair nicely with the 4 tracks that have yet to be heard.
