In January, Blind Reactions would return after the holiday break with 7 episodes that were posted and released in the month. I loved how there were actually three music videos that were featured by artists who I have written reviews for which was special because I got the opportunity to go back and revisit their work. Midnite Gossip, in particular was one I enjoyed reviewing as their music video was nominated for three different California Music Video and Film Awards!
1. Undertow by Twelve Days in June
Twelve Days in June were the first music video that was reviewed after the holiday break. They are such a cool band because have a nice blend from a more classic rock sound mixed with a good progressive rock sound. They reminded me of how Muse use to sound in the 2000’s, with the heavy layered guitars. This video was also very good, with high energy and great production quality. Undertow premiered on October 10th, 2024 and has 325 views. https://youtu.be/IaUtIqZCSHk?si=AaOGyxItIbAgQ08b
2.Streetlights by Midnite Gossip
What is there to say about Midnite Gossip that I haven’t already said? This is a POWER duo. This Canadian synth pop/synth rock duo are so incredibly talented. They fit right into the best that mainstream has to offer but they are not afraid to push the envelope and challenge themselves as musicians. Streetlights premiered on December 21, 2023 and has nearly 2,000 views! https://youtu.be/fYqUDUt5MCw?si=dkj-Q9PRIaG8G20M
3.Tropical Breeze by Moon Dreams Music
Tropical Breeze is a great summertime, beach vibe song. Not only is the song a good one, but the music video incorporates a beautiful tropical setting which is obviously perfect for the song. Moon Dreams Music is an artist I wanted to feature because, in addition to their talent, they are also avid supporters of independent artists and often curate playlists for independent artists to promote indie music. Tropical Breeze released on July 26, 2020 and has nearly 500 views. https://youtu.be/jHQjQMUgk_E?si=8uAdE6CTY5s8MFS9
4.When the Ice Breaks by Sprawler FU
Sprawler FU is another talented artist who I’ve written a review for. I really wanted to do a blind reaction to one of her music videos because she is does all of the videos herself using her cell phone, and they’re all done on little to no budget. In spite of this, the quality of her videos is incredible. When the Ice Breaks is particularly interesting as it incorporates “stop motion” technique utilizing Christmas ornaments. When the Ice Breaks premiered on December 12th, 2024 and nearly has 200 views. https://youtu.be/JQSsKr0s164?si=1E0NzO6TJLbTJTAu
5.Love to Love by The Blimp
The Blimp is the third band that I did a blind reaction for in January, who I’ve also featured in a review. The Blimp are a very talented progressive rock band so I was thrilled to be able to see a music video that visually represented their music. Love to Love did not disappoint. An incredible set. The props and wardrobe were unique and well thought out. The production value was pristine.
6.Hilda by Dale J. Jordan
Dale J. Jordan is a Nashville-based artist that plays a blend of Blues Rock, Rockabilly, and even a dash of Country Music. Aside from his baritone voice, hard-hitting lyrics, and epic hair game, he produced a very dark and serious music video with Hilda. Premiering on December 10th, 2024, Hilda nearly has 100 views. https://youtu.be/F8KojvIu_G0?si=UYi5lmyKZuuggwok
7.Free Your Mind by MJ
Free Your Mind is a very traditional R&B song that is performed by the very lovely and very talented artist, MJ. I really like some of the wardrobe and setting contrasts in this song. MJ’s use of color is particularly awesome in this video. Free Your Mind premiered on March 17th, 2023 and has nearly 1,000 views. https://youtu.be/hRjfMlFItt8?si=PH9JLdIU6vy2iTP2
Final Thoughts
January offered a variety of different music, from musicians in the US, UK, and England. I love the opportunity to get to revisit so many uniquely talented artists. To be able to see what some of these individuals have done is one of the best parts about doing Fifteen Minutes of Fame.
