Well, October seemed to be a quietly active month of content for FMOF. There was so much content released, that there was a lot to write about, but it didn’t feel like a lot went out.

As with other months, there has been a great blend of content. I have had the privilege of covering new music, meeting new artists, and also I’ve been able to revisit new music from some familiar faces.

About October

Golem Pink Interview

The only thing scary about this Halloween is how scary good some of the music is that is coming out of independent musicians lately. In October, there was a lot to cover. First, there were 14 new articles. There were 21 artists featured. Included in this content were 3 new blind reactions, as well as a new interview featuring the Portland-based indie band, Golem Pink.

Dareen

We had the privilege of covering music by Court Lee, from Rhode Island, and Dareen, an independent artist from Poland and Lebanon. Expanding our artist reach to 36 states and 25 countries.

Fifteen Minutes of Fame is steadily growing its platform as there have roughly been a hundred new followers across all platforms and nearly 20,000 views with thousands of followers interacting. That is a lot of exposure for the 21 artists featured this month!

On a personal note, I’ve been talking a lot about this album I’ve been working on for the last two years. October was a monumental month for me because Daniel and I completed production of Evaporate. The masters were sent to physical and digital distributors.

We are now openly talking about this album releasing! I’ve launched the website Jeff Thomas Music. There you can check out the About Me section, some photos and media related to Evaporate, and you can pre-order the limited edition vinyl! As of now, about 20% of the vinyls have sold and we are still more than two months out from the album dropping!

On November 21st, the new single Drakes Creek Park is dropping on all platforms except Spotify. You can read a more in depth post about it at the Jeff Thomas Music website.

Looking Ahead

November looks to be as exciting of a month as November has been. We are going to be continuing with our campaigns; featuring reviews and Blind Reactions from new artists and old artists. We are also going to be trying some new things! And of course, we will be looking to expand our partnership with CAN!

Campaigns

November’s campaign will feature new music from artists around the world. Remember, if you have new music or new videos you would like to feature, visit the Submit Your Music page found on the home page of the FMOF website!

Elly Kace Special Feature Part 2

Last month, I announced that we would be doing a live virtual sound healing event. Well, I’ve decided to swap part 2 and part 3 of the special feature so, instead of sound healing, we will be doing a video review of Seventh Gate, all music that has been released to date! I am really excited because this will be launching into a new segment of features I will be doing for Fifteen Minutes of Fame. the video reviews will become part of the campaigns going forward!

Elly Kace Interview

The 3rd segment, which will now be the sound healing live event, will be taking place in January, right after the new year. Then, in March, when the album releases, there will be a full review of the entire work!

Special Features

Speaking of Special Features, I have decided to turn the recent music video releases by Campbell McKinzie into a series of Blind Reactions because they are all connected, all being part of a song that spans more than 80 minutes long! Be on the lookout for part 3 coming VERY SOON!

A Very Special Debut Album

Fifteen Minutes of Fame would like to, once again give a very special shoutout to German indie artist, Kathi Deakin, for the release of her debut album, Perennial, which released on October 17th. This truly has been one of my favorite listens of the year and I am still playing it frequently.

Album News

In addition to continuing my work with Fifteen Minutes of Fame, there will be some promotion for Evaporate that will be occupying some of my time. I am thrilled to be sharing all of this with you!

In a couple of weeks, I will be featured on the Abominations platform by none other than Philly-based, man of a thousand gifts, Marc Schuster! If you’re not familiar with Marc’s platform, you really should be checking it out!

Here is a link to his latest article:

There will be more appearances along the way, as we approach the January 16th release date, as well as an announcement of a release show (and possibly one or two acoustic solo performances before then).

Final Thoughts

I think a legitimate gauge of how happy somebody is, is how quickly time goes by. I cannot believe it is already November. In spite of all of the bad happening in the world, I can say I am happy because I am with my wife, who I love, my children, our dogs, and this community. Fifteen Minutes of Fame have really given me something to focus on. It has given me an opportunity to discover amazing music and meet the musicians behind it. I couldn’t be happier.

I know I am adding an element of video to the platform but I recently read an article about how streaming platforms like TikTok, Reels, and Shorts are narrowing our attention spans and shortening our capacity to receive and comprehend information. In short: it’s making us dumber. So, let’s not overlook the joy of reading. Read blogs, journals, books, and magazines. I think every single one of these artists is worth your time. Prove me wrong!
