“My favorite love stories start with two enemies who spend all their time fighting their attraction to one another. I wanted to write a song that captured that stubborn, inevitable love.” ~ Maddie Regent
With her third single release since June, LA-based indie artist Maddie Regent is giving fans a lot to be excited about. Her latest, Lizzy, dropped just two weeks ago and has already moved to her number 1 most popular song for the last month on Spotify with 30,000 streams. In addition to the single dropping, there is also a featured music video directed by Maya Sassoon that can be seen on YouTube.
Lizzy

Lizzy, as stated earlier, is the third single released by Maddie Regent since June, releasing on October 16th. It runs at three and a half minutes and was independently released by Regent.
Regent, known for a cinematic, alt-pop style of writing, is able to capture her story with dramatic fashion in Lizzy. It narrates a rather unconventional love story where she is trying to talk herself into the idea that she hates a person she feels a magnetic energy to. This enemies to loves concept is something that historically has very passionate outcomes. I think about Ian and Mickey in Shameless or Amy and Lucy Diamond in D.E.B.S.

Regent builds that same suspense here in Lizzy with the composition. It is up-tempo with big dynamic moments, opening quietly before building into the first chorus and throughout before having more intimacy introduced into the bridge.
Lizzy is a clever concept that is being executed with a strong lyrical and musical performance that is amplified by great production value and an awesome new music video. Now is the time to jump on the Maddie Regent bandwagon as her momentum continues to build as we turn the corner into 2027.
