Amity

Amity, an independent artist out of the UK, has had a busy year as his music continues to garner well deserved attention. The former Royal Albert Hall Award winner is garnering national attention and headlining festivals as he continues his pursuit to bring his music mainstream.

Earlier this year, he released the thrilling uptempo alt/synth pop hit White to the Murder. Working with producer Agon Branza, Amity’s hard hitting lyrics paired with cinematic compositions have shown a significant evolution from his previous releases.

Blasphemy is the latest release by UK artist Amity. It releases today, October 30th, and runs at three minutes and forty seconds. It features Amity on vocals and piano and was produced by Agon Branza.

Amity has always been an outspoken lyricist, but as the world has taken a progressive descent into madness, he has taken a more amplified approach to oppose it. A huge advocate for LGBTQ and equality, Blasphemy takes aim at systemic control, social dogma, and religious elitism.

Blasphemy impresses from start to finish. It opens reliant on percussion driving the mood, Amity’s vocals soaring over simple piano and symphonic beats. As the song builds beyond the first chorus, strings synths, harps, and other ornamentations add to the crescendo of sound. The outro strips the composition back to bare bones before adding layers of vocals and instruments while pushing the tempo into the climax of the song.

“The brighter the light, the darker the shadow it casts.”

A pendulum will swing from one side to another, and that motion tells a story. When the end of the pendulum reaches the extent of its momentum, it doesn’t just stop. It is actually when momentum shifts. “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.”

Global conservatism has become a movement that is unapologetically ignoring the outcries of oppression. The absurdity of this agenda has spawned a generation of artists laying it all on the line because speaking out has become more important than playing it safe. Amity has fearlessly taken a stand and, in doing so, listeners are gravitating to his message.

Blasphemy is the latest in his demand for human decency, fairness, and a right for everyone to coexist. It is as beautiful as it is powerful.

Go press play.
